The Display control panel allows you to specify settings directly related to the output image rendered by RenderMan.

Secondary Display

Secondary Displays can be used to output additional images during a single rendering pass. This information can be useful in various post-processing scenarios including depth compositing and painterly imaging effects. You can have an unlimited number of output images. This is based upon the arbitrary output mechanism available in PRMan versions 3.8 and above; the RenderMan Toolkit Release Notes and AppNote #24 are a good starting point to learn more about this feature.

Integrated AOVs

There are a number of built-in outputs that can enabled simply by adding a "new" secondary display, naming it, picking a file format and selecting a channel. For an example Maya file that is already set up to generate several outputs refer to: docs_location\rattutorials\mtor\scenes\aovs\aov.ma

New/Delete -  Use the New and Delete buttons to create and remove arbitrary secondary variables, which you can customize with the following settings..

Presets - Secondary display presets are used to save the values from the input fields below. For example, this kind of preset could be useful if you need several output displays with similar settings and want to begin by initializing each with the same set of values.

Name - For each arbitrary output channel that you wish to add, enter a display name. This will be the base name of the resulting image, similar to how Display Name works for the primary output.

Type - Similar to the primary display Display Server, you can specify the display type independently for each arbitrary output channel. If you wish to use other display servers, you can type them in, or you can have them show up in the pulldown menu by editing the RMCDspy2Types Preference in TOR.ini. Tiff is usually a good choice here since it supports all the potential display modes.

Channels - Choose the rendering variables defined in the channel tab to be placaed in this secondary display.
